La Graine is a €6 million franco-belgian comedy written and directed by the belgian-french Eloïse Lang (Connasse, Princesse des coeurs). It was shot at 85% in Belgium. The technical team was almost entirely Belgian including heads of departments who were incidentally majoritarily females. Part of the post-production was also done in Belgium.
La Graine is a kind of female buddy movie that revisits and mixes the mythical Thelma and Louise in a franco-belgian version with the hilarious Very Bad Trip. A funny and sensitive road trip in which a French lesbian couple (Marie Papillon and Stacy Martin) embark on the arduous quest for an IVF across the border.
On top of the Tax Shelter funds provided by Beside Productions, the series is supported by Screen Brussels.
