The Polar Bear Prince (ex-Valemon) is a Norwegian-Belgian 10M€ animated feature and yet another example of European cross-border collaboration with Beside Productions playing a key role in"getting to greenlight".
Through its international prospection efforts, Beside Productions identified the project after regular talks with Oslo-based Maipo Film. Beside Productions then rallied Belgian talent through Brussels-based Studio Souza with whom it had a project already going and reached out to Vivi Film, specialized in animation since 1990, to act with Beside Productions, as Belgian "co-coproducer". A strong two-country, three-party co-production! Belgium contributed multi-million euro financing (Tax shelter, regional funding, free TV pre-sale and local MG) while hosting over 5M€ of local production costs. Three animation studios located in Belgium's three regions collaborated with Norway's creative teams to deliver on the great aesthetic promise of The Polar Bear Prince.
